Wanna be an HOLA member? Wanna know more about HOLA first?

HOLA
is a not-for-profit arts service and advocacy organization founded in 1975.

HOLA members get their headshots and resumes on our web directory. In addition, HOLA receives casting notices from various sources that we pass on to our members (or in specific cases, help refer actors to the casting director).

HOLA offers low-cost workshops and seminars, professional counseling, special events and networking activities. We also produce the HOLA Awards which honor outstanding achievement by Latinos in entertainment.

HOLA has a Facebook page and a Twitter page in addition to this blog (imaginatively titled El Blog De HOLA). Whenever a member is doing a project, we can promote via e-mails we send out, through our Members in Performance page on the website or in El Blog on our HOLA Member Bochinche column (only good bochinche, never bad bochinche). It functions as another outlet to promote your work. HOLA is also on YouTube and on Wikipedia.

What if you are not an actor? You can support HOLA by being a Friend of HOLA. For more information, click here.

To become an HOLA member online (New York metropolitan area), fill out the member application form here.

"Producers are not prone to create projects that feature Latinos unless they're pushed. As Latino movie audiences grow, there will be more demand for productions that feature Latinos in the lead or in the theme of the movie. In the long term, they will have to react as the audience gets bigger, more demanding and more politically active."Manny Alfaro, Executive Director, Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA)

Demián Bichir Talks Diversity and Latino Representation in Film and TV

Demián Bichir.
I think Latino talent is necessary for this industry in all aspects, not only regarding actors, but also directors, writers and cinematographers. Throughout the years we have demonstrated how much talent we have to offer. I think there is a lack of stories that represent us. New paths are being opened but there is still much more to do. It is very important to have a healthy group of Latino directors, cinematographers, etc. It is not only good for us as Latinos, but it is great for the American industry as well. It's complicated because there are many stereotypes and clichés, and we have to break them as much as we can. The only real way to break through them is to write new projects, new stories about success, stories that can inspire the Latino community. –DEMIÁN BICHIR

Milena Dávila walked the runway during New York's Fashion Week, where she modeled for AnMido at The Set's benefit to end child trafficking.

Wilfredo Roldán, shown at left, was interviewed by filmmaker Alex Megaro for Trash Film blog, where he spoke on his life, upbringing and career, specifically his role as Rodan in the 1970s cult horror-martial arts film Black Force (also known as Devil's Express; directed by Michael Fink). HOLA members can be seen on television this fall season. Check out the HOLA members who are gracing the small screen in regular and recurring roles.

J.W. Cortés.
David Zayas.
The highly anticipated Fox series "Gotham" has not one, but two HOLA members in recurring roles. The show is an upcoming American superhero television series created by Bruno Heller, based on characters appearing in and published by DC Comics, specifically those of Detective James Gordon and Bruce Wayne, who were created by Bob Kane, and others in DC's Batman franchise. The series stars Ben McKenzie (as the young Gordon), Donal Logue, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Erin Richards, Zabryna Guevara and David Mazouz (as the young Bruce Wayne, who will later become Batman). David Zayas is playing the role of Salvatore "The Boss" Maroni. In addition, J.W. Cortés is playing the role of Detective Álvarez. In addition to Zayas, Cortés and Guevara, other Latinos in the cast include Carmen Bicondova, Victoria Cartagena and Sara Paxton. "Gotham" is scheduled to premiere on Monday, September 22, 2014. For more information on the series, click here.

Andrea Navedo.
"Jane The Virgin"is also a highly anticipated new series debuting on The CW. The upcoming American serial comedy-drama television series is a loose adaptation of the Venezuelan telenovela "Juana la virgen" (created by Perla Farías). Set in Miami, it stars Gina Rodríguez in the lead role, as a hard-working, religious young Latina woman whose family tradition and a vow to save her virginity until her marriage to a detective is shattered when a doctor accidentally artificially inseminates her by mistake during a checkup. To make matters worse, the biological donor is a married man, a former playboy and cancer survivor who is not only the new owner of the hotel where Jane works, but was also her former teenage crush. HOLAmember Andrea Navedo plays Jane's mother Xiomara and Ivonne Coll plays Jane's grandmother Alba. Jaime Camil and Diane Guerrero co-star in the series, which is scheduled to premiere on Monday, October 13, 2014. Click here for more information about the series.

Marlene Forté.
HOLA member Marlene Forté can be seen playing Carmen Ramos on the TNT reboot of the popular CBS nighttime drama "Dallas" (1978-1991). The new series is one of the few television programs ever to have a Latina as an executive producer and showrunner (Cynthia Cidre). The show stars Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy (also from the original series), as well as Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe and Brenda Strong. Latino actors include regular cast members Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Kuno Becker and Juan Pablo DiPace. This season was notable as it was the first after the death of original series Larry Hagman (who played popular character J.R. Ewing), who passed away due to cancer. The third season of "Dallas" will wrap up on Monday, September 22, 2014. For more information on the series (or to see previous episodes), click here.
